Detective Chinatown is one of the most succesful Chinese films ever made. It is actually the 3rd highest grossing chinese film ever made. ( grossed over US$544 million worldwide). It is hillarious, action packed and a real entertainer from all aspects. The only problem is the language. I don't know weather it is available in English or not. But subs are available from many languages including English.
Romance is not one of the major concerns of this film. But there are two hot Chinese girls as well. There are also two major charactors in this amazing Chinese hit. One of them is the genious and the other one is the crazy stupid guy who support the main hero. These two are in kind of a love with above mentioned Chinese hotties.
Action scquences are pretty well planned. They are as good as any top quality Hollywood film. The technology used in this film is obviously among best.
This is also not the only Detective Chinatown film in the industry. There waas another film which was realed in 2015. This 2018 film is the 2nd part of it.
